The Sydney Copywriter

I was born and raised Sydney – a truly inspirational city for any occupation. But for a copywriter it's a true blessing. The surrounding natural beauty, historic legacy and thumping vibe effortlessly mix together to create a magnetic attraction. Here are my top ten places in Sydney that inspire my writing and make me proud to call myself a Sydneysider.

Royal National Park
Heading south from Bundeena, the cliff top walk through the Royal National Park is spectacular. Consider walking all the way to Garie Beach and rewarding yourself with a well deserved dip in the ocean.

Macquarie Street
One of the oldest streets in the country, today Macquarie Street features some of the most important buildings in the state including the Parliament, Library and the former mint.

Chowder Bay
Escape the crowds and savour the million dollar harbour views in this little known north-side location. Be sure to explore the historic sites along the way.

Australia Square Tower
While most people head to Sydney Tower for views across Sydney and the Harbour – the Australia Square Tower similarly boasts a revolving bar.

Palm Beach
There’s a reason why Palm Beach was chosen as the location for the successful drama series Home and Away. The walk up to the lighthouse is obligatory.

The University of Sydney
Legend has it that the architecture of the main quadrangle was modelled on Oxford University in England. Whether there is a resemblance or not – this is an important destination as the oldest University in the country.

Middle Harbour
More a river system flowing from Sydney Harbour, strolling along the banks of Middle Harbour is a truly inspirational experience for a copywriter.

GPO
The architectural transformation of the former Sydney General Post Office on Martin Place is mesmerising. Be sure to admire both the intricate stone work on the facade and also the redesigned interior.

The Rocks
Bypass the rather touristy George Street and head into the back streets of the Rocks  - on the other side of the Cahill Expressway. The colonial architectural gems are worth admiring before walking along the Harbour promenade.

Taronga Zoo
As a child, I’d visit the Zoo every year with school. It was only after I finished school that I truly appreciate Taronga Zoo’s sensational outlook over Sydney Harbour.
